Pinterest for Genealogists!
I love Pinterest! I use it for all kinds of things including genealogy. I pin links of sites to explore further, sites to use in my genealogy research, references to states and counties where I research…. The list goes can (and does) go on and on. I organize my Pinterest boards into categories so I can easily find the things I have pinned again. Hint: If your Pinterest boards get too big (i.e. have so many pins that finding what you are looking for is difficult, subdivide your cateogory into another board(s). Best Tip to Decipher Your Ancestors’ Handwriting
Do you have trouble deciphering your ancestors’ handwriting? (Me, too!) Transcribing wills, deeds or our ancestors’ letters or dairies can be difficult. The writing is small. The letters are made differently. The ink can be smudged. Then the terms and words used may be archaic or used differently than today. It can all add up to a bit of eye strain. My ancestors were prolific letter writers. They were also “pack rats.” (Thank goodness!) As a result I have many, many letters written by their own hand or that of their friends.
